DJ Loka DJ Loka's (aka Terri Gomez) sophisticated, distinct style blends deep, soulful, and tech house into a sexy collage of layered rhythms that seduce a crowd before they know what hit them. After underground super promoter Patrick Duffy offered her her debut gig, in Dec. 2003, opening for longtime residents Neil Aline and DJ Angola, at NYC's Sunday night party at APT; Loka's been steadily building bookings all over NYC: Pacha, Sullivan Room, SinSin, Salon, APT, Rhone, Starlight, and the list goes on. Loka held successful weekly radioshow residencies on DownShift Radio in 2004 & London's PressureRadio in 2005. In 2008 Loka became affiliated with Christian Records, DJ Friendly Records with the release of Loka's first remix for Christian Padauraus Emotion Comes From Motion released on Christian Records on January 19th exclusively through Beatport.com... as well as her own monthly chart for Beatport.com.Loka is also a longstanding member of Freelancers.org and Art For Progress where she exercises a host of talents related to the musical and visual application of art in New Media. It's a great idea, but it got bigger than I expected soooo quickly! Thereby hijacking most of my time outside of my main job for most of 2006. The podcast now has over 3000 subscribers as well as close to 4000 members of the site itself. It's gotten big quickly and I'm looking to make some decisions in the next month whether to keep it, get an investor and make it my main income source, sell it, or close it because although I love this great idea... I NEED TO PLAY and DJ more than I need to run this site. So that's why I wasn't playing out as much in 2006. I was however very busy with mixes and you can check this site's podcast for my mixes over 2006. 10.28.06 - Downshiftradio.com w/Drrty of www.drrtynewyork.com 10.26.06 - Girls on Decks @ SinSin w/Miss BlueSky! 02.15.06 - Launch of ExerciseRadio.com 02.03.06 - Sinsation @ Pacha

More Loka Info Loka grew up surrounded by Latin, RnB, Soul, Disco and the beginnings of HipHop & Rap. DJs, MCs, music and dance was the common bonding point and where Loka's journey behind the decks began as a teenager in her best friend's basement. Dance, DJ'ing and sneaking into NYC looking for the 'dancer's high' gave her a true underground education. Barely a teen when she found the Paradise Garage and The Loft she knew her life was changed forever on those dance floors. It was there she learned the importance of LIVINGYOUR DREAMS, not just talking about it. That inspiration runs through every shred of Loka's life to this day, and there's nowhere better to understand it than to hear Loka play. Years after becoming a successful trainer and instructor and entrpreneur she took advantage of the Scratch Academy in NYC to renew and reinvigorate her facility on the decks, proving that you don't 'GET INTO' house music. HOUSE MUSIC GETS INTO YOU.
